The information released from Doom Eternal includes its gameplay, history and minimum system requirements, but the price is still a mystery. The game brings the franchise to the new generation consoles and continues the story of the saga. The gameplay has been improved, offering better mobility and a completely redesigned multiplayer mode.

Doom Eternal Launch and preload

Doom Eternal will be released on March 20, 2020, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. Initially, its launch was scheduled for November 2019, however, a month earlier, ID Software announced the postponement of the project so that the game would be “according to the company’s speed and polish standards”

A Nintendo Switch version is also in development by Panic Button, but it will not be released alongside those of other consoles. However, the developer confirmed that it won’t be long before Nintendo platform users can play.

The digital preload of Doom Eternal is now available for Xbox One users. On PlayStation 4 and PC – both through and Steam -, it will start 48 hours before the game’s launch, on the 18th.

Doom Eternal Story

The events of Doom Eternal take place eight months after the end of the 2016 game. After the gates of hell are directed to Earth, 60% of the planet ends up in the hands of the demonic invasion. The land military cannot contain the invasion and a large part of the population is decimated in the first month. The few humans left were left alive thanks to the Arcs, who evacuate them in orbits. Marine Doom Slayer returns from Hell to save humanity and end the evil legacy of the Hell Priests.

Doom Eternal Gameplay

Like the other games in the franchise, Doom Eternal has an action-focused gameplay. Doom Slayer returns more powerful to face hordes of demons using weapons with devastating powers. However, now the character has a faster and more varied movement, in addition to a shoulder cannon that can be used to throw grenades or create explosions of fire. This cannon has infinite use, being limited only by a cooldown time .

The character’s mobility has also been improved, with the addition of a hanging hook on the Super Shotgun, the possibility of swinging on bars to change its position on the map and executing movement boosts on the floor. The marine can use the boost twice before having to wait for the reload time.

In Doom Eternal, the Doom Slayer has a varied arsenal with weapons like the Combat Shotgun and Super Shotgun, a Plasma Rifle and even a Ballista. For those who prefer a more direct combat, there are also melee weapons such as The Crucible Blade and a chainsaw. After dealing enough damage, enemies are weakened and the player can end the fight in style with Glory Kill executions.

The weapon modification system is back – now much more effective than in the previous game. Most weapons – except the Super Shotgun and the BFG – can receive up to two different mods and each one affects enemies in a variety of ways. When throwing a Sticky Bomb in the throat of the opponent known as Cacodemon, for example, he is instantly stunned. The Arbalest weapon will be very useful when facing flying enemies. Mods can be upgraded through upgrades by obtaining Combat Points.

Doom Eternal Extra Lives

A novelty is the “extra lives” system, a short period of invisibility that can be activated at times when the character would die. Extra lives are limited and must be found on the maps by the player in order to be used. By activating the feature, the user has the opportunity to reposition himself and return to combat without being penalized for the loss of his progress.

The game brings a new feature, called Invasion Mode, that allows the player to invade someone else’s campaign in the form of a demon.

Doom Eternal Master Phases

After mastering the gameplay of Doom Eternal, players can face extra challenges in the Master Phases. They will be new versions of the levels, changed precisely to put the player’s ability to the test. They are available in all difficulty modes, but only the most skilled can face this challenge at Ultrapesadelo.

Multiplayer Modes

Doom Eternal will have a new PvP 2v1 developed from scratch by id Software, called Battlemode. In it, two players control demons, while the third is the Doom Slayer. Initially, the playable demons are: Revenant, Pain Elemental, Mancubus, Marauder and Arch-vile. Each of them has their own skills, as well as advantages and disadvantages, and work together to beat the Doom Slayer.

The mode will be launched with maps designed to create more dynamic combat, with portals, jumping pads and bars. In these battles, Doom Slayer will have access to his entire arsenal and all the mods available. When killing one of the demons, he has time before he can return to the arena with half his full life. The objective of the Doom Slayer is precisely to eliminate the two before this time limit. Between each round, all players can upgrade their characters to make the battle even more challenging.

In addition to Battlemode, Doom Eternal’s multiplayer also includes modes already known to the public such as Team Deathmatch, Warpath (King of the Hill), Domination and Clan Arena.

DLC ads

To date, Doom Eternal has no announced DLC release. However, it has already been confirmed by ID Software that the game receives more content for single player mode, without specifying what type of extra content will be added to the game’s campaign.

Character Customization

In Doom Eternal, there are several skins to customize the Doom Slayer, as well as animations and podiums that can be obtained during the game. After customizing the character, it is possible to take photos with the Photo Mode of the Single Player campaign. In Battlemode, in addition to Doom Slayer, playable demons can also have their custom look.
